Alley Taco is located in the "Midtown" area where there's lots of competition for the lunch crowd. There is convenient parking right outside the door, if you can get it.
Prices seem reasonable for most items. However, they certainly don't beat the prices of the authentic Mexican trucks and establishments.
There are a few entree options available which include nachos, burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, and also a taco salad. The asada fries sound interesting. I may go back an try them if I'm in the mood.
On this visit, I ordered a "puffy shell duo", which are two deep fried flour tortillas filled with your choice of meat, cotija cheese and pico.
I love the concept, except, it wasn't executed very well.
I chose smoked pork and carne asada. The meat was a little dry and seemed to lack flavor. I don't care for pico and opted not to have any. Therefore there was not much there to wow my taste buds. I would have liked lettuce and tomato or some other toppings to complete the taco.
Anyhow, other menu items include bbq sweet potato, rice and beans, curry cauliflower, street corn and chips with guac, cheese or salsa. "Impossible Beef" is also an option.
Alley Taco is worth a try. The staff was friendly. -

Too good to answer their phones. Seriously, try calling them to place an order ahead of time. One time I kept ringing it and walked in while it was still ringing. They know it's ringing they just choose not to answer. So last time I went there to Southwest Detroit instead. A much better meal anyway.

Great low key lunch taco spot.
In the yellow building next to Avalon in Midtown this taco joint is a great little taco joint with good salsa.
This is a counter order spot with a small menu but prices are reasonable and the food is made quick. Their menu consists of tacos made on corn, burrito, burrito bowl, nachos, quesadilla and fries.
My tres Taco I ordered with pollo and added fajita veggies. I think that's the way to go! The tacos are stuffed the meat is juicy and the ingredients all tasted fresh. My girlfriend ordered the fries with steak, not really my cup of tea, too plain with just steak onions fresco queso and a jalapeno ranch.
The entrees come with chips and serve yourself salsa (Mild, Verde, Hot) I like spice so I was pleasantly surprised by the Verde. It had so much flavor with a kick! Great on the tacos.
No frills, but perfect midtown spot. -

This was my first time ordering from Alley Taco,I must say that I'm not disappointed even though the food seems a bit pricey. I ordered a veggie fajita burrito,it's huge! My only complaint is that I wish sour cream was an option to order. The fresh cilantro added a nice flavor to the burrito. I also ordered the jalapeño ranch which is pretty tasty but isn't very spicy. Overall,I'm satisfied with my food and would eat Alley Taco again.
